memento amoris
Remember to love...
We all talk about love, but do we truly know the weight the word carries or even the significant role it plays?
Love is sacred both in utterance and action.
Let's explore the flip of the phrase "Memento amoris" which is memento mori (remember that we must die).
Now, I'm not trying to scare anyone by bringing up the word some of us don't want to hear. I am trying to explore what I have come to understand lately—love and death are related not opposites.
Death reminds us of our mortality, it reminds us that the time we have is limited, while love makes the time we have meaningful. It makes every little moment worth it. Taking away the reality of our mortality.
Death makes life fragile.
Love makes it valuable.
You never truly understand loss until you've loved and you never truly understand love until the thought of losing it comes to you.
You might be asking, what kind of love? I'm talking about all kinds.
Be open to loving yourself, your life and even that person who makes the butterflies in you tremble with joy.
Don't let pain or the fear of getting hurt destroy the beautiful feeling of being loved and being in love.
Open yourself to love, because you never know when you'll lose the opportunity.
Live. Love. Laugh.
Until the next sigh...
